Sealers

We carry a range of surface treatments and sealers for all applications of our stone, from indoor flooring to outdoor paving, pool coping and even driveway stone.

For indoor stone, we recommend natural split stone - like sandstone and natural slate - be treated with a surface coating sealer. It gives your stone a nice sheen and creates a protective barrier on the surface, protecting it from stains. The resulting colour of the stone once sealed can either be similar to that of the stone when dry or enriched as if the stone was wet. It is critical to get the right sealer for your stone, and our stone experts are always on hand to help you make the right choice.

For our honed and polished stone, it is sealed with a penetrating sealer which retains the natural look of the stone.

We use the same penetrating sealers for our outdoor stone to keep the natural, unglazed look, which has multiple practical benefits. Aside from protecting the stone from staining, it helps the stone retain its non-slip properties and allows moisture to pass through the stone, rather than trapping it in, which can affect colour.

Different sealers result in different finishes- always be sure the sealer proposed creates the result you are looking for- a natural look, a glossy look, a "colour enhanced" look. The need to speak to an expert to ensure the right result cannot be over stated!!
